Effective, Easy and Enjoyable "Play" Training Classes
The number one reason dog owners choose to attend a group training
class is to address their dog's manners. The most common concerns
include: jumping up, barking, poor leash manners, running away or not
coming when called, and house-training. Our program will teach you how
to modify your dog's behavior, improve his manners, and provide you with
the basic skills you need in order to prevent "backsliding" once class is over.
Our classes focus on these most common manners problems. Classes
are divided into three levels: Level 1 (basic training and manners), Level
2 (intermediate training), and Level 3 (advanced training).
All classes are conducted in a 8 week format.
Obedience Level 0.5 Classes

An AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Class!
Getting your new puppy off to a good start is so important! Happily, training baby puppies is also fun and easy. Get a jumpstart on raising the dog of your dreams with our Level 0.5 puppy class. Puppy 0.5 focuses on common challenges faced by every new puppy owner such as chewing, house training, and jumping up among others. Additionally we focus on preventing some common problems of adolescent, or teenager, dogs such as not coming when called and mannerly leash walking. For puppies from 9 to 16 weeks.
Puppies who complete all the requirements can earn their American Kennel Club S.T.A.R Puppy Medal through our Level 0.5 Class. The AKC S.T.A.R Puppy evaluation is included in the cost of your class.
Classes meet for 1 hour per week for 8 weeks. The class fee is $85.
Obedience Level 1 Classes
Our Level 1 class, our most popular, focuses on basic training skills for the handler and basic manners skills for the dog. These classes are designed to enhance your enjoyment of your dog as a well-trained family companion by teaching you management tools, training skills, and problem solving techniques with your dog. Your dog will learn to enjoy each lesson, which we call "Games", without even knowing he is learning obedience! You will both enjoy a better relationship built upon a foundation of respect.
Our classes are based upon our concept of Play Training, and here is a sampling of some of the "Games" you will teach your dog and he will enjoy learning in our Level 1 Class.
- Pay Attention When Asked (even under distraction).
- Greet Politely.
- Come When Called.
- Walk Politely On Leash.
- Sit and Lie Down When Asked.
Classes meet for 1 hour per week for 8 weeks.
Fee: $85, including our very popular and informative 90-minute Effective,
Easy, and Enjoyable Training Jump Start Seminar. Attendance of the seminar is required
for new clients (dogs do not attend), and there will be several "Games To
Play At Home" introduced. You will also receive your "Play Book" which
includes all class handouts and reading material for this class.
Little Lion Level 1 Classes
The first thing my Miniature Pinscher AJ taught me was that toy breeds have different training needs then their larger cousins. AJ was a lovely dog to train, but I needed to learn different ways of working with him due to his diminutive stature. Our Little Lions Level 1 class utilizes the Level 1 curriculum with tips and techniques designed to help the small dog parent. Our Little Lions also learn better in the company of those their own size! For dogs 16 weeks of age and older who weigh less then 25 pounds.
Classes meet for 1 hour per week for 8 weeks. The class fee is $85.
Obedience Level 2 Classes

An AKC Canine Good Citizen Class!
For dog/handler teams who have mastered the basics of Level 1, Level 2 classes are designed to challenge owners to strive for a dog whose behavior goes above and beyond simple good manners, to the level of a Canine Good Citizen.
Level 2 classes are designed to prepare dogs and owners for the American Kennel Clubs' Canine Good Citizen Evaluation. Graduation for Level 2 classes includes a complimentary CGC Test for each student.
All Level 2 classes include the following intermediate skills:
- Heel (walk by my leg with focused attention) including turns and distractions.
- Sit-stay.
- Down-stay.
- Stand-stay.
- Recall.
Classes meet for 1 hour per week for 8 weeks. The class fee is $100.
Obedience Level 3 Classes
Can't get enough? We have had so many requests for more training classes we are now offering our Obedience Level 3 Class. Graduation from Level 2 or instructor approval, is required prior to enrollment in Level 3. The skills taught in Level 3 will further your dog's education beyond the level of AKC Canine Good Citizen and prepare you for off leash classes such as Trei Ball.
Level 3 continues your quest towards having a truly well educated dog, capable of behaving in a mannerly and responsive manner in a variety of locations, around a variety of distractions, and for increasing lengths of time. As in the case for all our classes, the skills you learn focus on the functional, real life, skills dogs and pet parents need to enjoy each others company.
Of course, Level 3 is a clicker training class with emphasis placed on using functional reinforcements (a.k.a Life Rewards) to reinforce good behavior. You will also increase your training skill in capturing and shaping new (and fun) behaviors.
Level 3 dogs and handlers learn to increase their skill in foundation areas such as:
- Polite Walking (heel);
- Sit/Down/Stand and Stay;
- Coming when called (Recall);
- and attentiveness (Focused Attention).
In addition, working off leash is introduced, go away and wait (front door manners), and advanced work in shaping are taught, that includes the target training needed to start advanced classes such as Trei Ball.
As with all our classes Level 3 Obedience is primary a class to increase your understanding of your best friend and to foster a true partnership between you and your dog.
Classes meet for 1 hour per week for 8 weeks. The class fee is $100.
Zen Dog: Help for the Leash Aggressive Dog
Does your dog give you problems on leash? Does your dog's barking, pulling, and lunging make walks unpleasant? If so Zen Dog: Help for the Leash Aggressive Dog can help. Learn how to teach your dog to focus on you, self calm, and to control him (or her) self while on leash.
Class takes a holistic approach to leash aggression using therapies designed to improve your relationship with your reactive dog while you learn to teach your dog new, more desirable, behaviors to replace the old aggressive behaviors. There are two levels of Zen Dog:
